Given that apparently nothing else supports your CD drive either and the fact that this is _very_ old hardware for which few developers will be willing to make any real effort to improve support, I'm afraid that there's nothing much we can do. Because of that I also don't really think the severity important is warranted. It also seems that this is something of a known issue.
