The debian/rules file for rt73-modules needs to be generated using yada. KVERS and KSRC are expanded at this time. Currently it's generated when rt73-source is built, but obviously it needs to be regenerated when the modules are built. That seems to have been missed here, and I can't see how this regeneration is supposed to be triggered.
