Package: ruby1.9-dev Version: 1.9.0.0-2 Severity: minor In ruby1.8-dev there was a file version.h which contains the values for RUBY_VERSION_MAJOR etc. Having these definitions available is very important for embedded ruby. This file is missing from ruby1.9-dev although it still exists in the upstream tarball.
In addition, I'd like to encourage renaming this file to ruby_version.h so it doesn't clash with similarly named files on the include path. This should however not be done in Debian, instead upstream could be persuaded, maybe for Ruby 2.0 but preferably already for the 1.x branch. For comparison: - perl provides PERL_*_APIVERSION in perl.h - python provides PY_*_VERSION in patchlevel.h through Python.h - tcl provides TCL_*_VERSION in tcl.h -- System Information: Debian Release: lenny/sid APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 2.6.24-1-amd64 (SMP w/2 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=de_DE.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=de_DE.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Versions of packages ruby1.9-dev depends on: ii libruby1.9 1.9.0.0-2 Libraries necessary to run Ruby 1.
