Hi Noel,
It's hard to say, really. I have made a couple of tests, and I seem to be
able to find the text in the document, even the words appearing in the last
pages, so it seems that most, if not all, the indexing is actually performed.
Perhaps the error is produced at the end of the document?
In any case, that sounds like a ghostscript bug...
