Hi Jason Yes that is perfectly possible.
I think you can "purge" the package and install it again. If that do not work the database is in /var/lib/ntop/. No files are part of the package, so I think it is safe to simply remove them. At least it works if you first remove the files in /var/lib/ntop/, then purge the package and install it again. I have also got an other report and that is that building ntop with libpcap0.8 works much better. That may be the problem as well. But please test with the database first.
