Package: ifupdown Version: 0.6.8ubuntu8 Severity: normal --- Please enter the report below this line. --- The manpage of ifupdown states that "end-of-line comments are NOT supported, comments must be on a line of their own." This is ok if it is no source of errors, but it is:
I did not know what the manpage said there and wrote something like this into /etc/network/interfaces (for wpasupplicant): wpa-wep-key0 "gdzs125ghkq21" #original I could not connect to the network though the password was correct. No error message was given. When I removed the end-of-line comment everything worked ok. It is counter-intuitive that something after the password-enclosing quotation marks changes changes the value of the password. Suggestion: either output an error message like "/etc/network/interfaces:80: too many parameters for iface line" as happens when writing: iface wlaniface inet dhcp #test eol comment Or enable end-of-line comments, which would be handy.
