Hi, OpenOffice can create encrypted PDF files, but I'm not sure what kind of encryption it uses. http://wiki.services.openoffice.org/wiki/Documentation/OOoAuthors_User_Manual/Writer_Guide/Exporting_to_PDF I'm also attaching a sample file, with the password "debian".
