Package: smbclient Version: 3.0.28-2+b1 Severity: normal I'm lucky enough to be using Verizon DSL for my network connection, which means a hostname *always* resolves, if to nothing else than to Verizon's search servers. In this latter case, the NXDOMAIN is returned, after the bad matches. Since this is a problem for my local SMB server (network-attached storage), in /etc/samba/smb.conf I've set:
name resolve order = bcast This worked for a little while, but in the last couple of versions in sid, it's been going to DNS again. -- System Information: Debian Release: lenny/sid APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.23-1-686 (SMP w/1 CPU core) Locale: LANG=en_US, LC_CTYPE=en_US (charmap=ISO-8859-1) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Versions of packages smbclient depends on: ii libc6 2.7-6 GNU C Library: Shared libraries ii libcomerr2 1.40.4-1 common error description library ii libkrb53 1.6.dfsg.3~beta1-2 MIT Kerberos runtime libraries ii libldap-2.4-2 2.4.7-3 OpenLDAP libraries ii libncurses5 5.6+20080119-1 Shared libraries for terminal hand ii libpopt0 1.10-3 lib for parsing cmdline parameters ii libreadline5 5.2-3 GNU readline and history libraries ii samba-common 3.0.28-2+b1 Samba common files used by both th smbclient recommends no packages. -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
