Package: nvidia-kernel-source Version: 169.07-2 Severity: important I am attempting to build this in a i386 chroot environment inside an amd64 install because of programs that will not run in the amd64 environment.
I have tried several methods to build the module within the chroot, but all have failed. It seems that, for some reason, the builder is insisting on using an amd64 object file even though the install was from within an i386 chroot. The module itself seems to build properly, but then fails in the linking stage with the message set as follows: LD [M] /usr/src/modules/nvidia-kernel/nv/nvidia.o ld: Relocatable linking with relocations from format elf64-x86-64 (/usr/src/modules/nvidia-kernel/nv/nv-kernel.o) to format elf32-i386 (/usr/src/modules/nvidia-kernel/nv/nvidia.o) is not supported make[4]: *** [/usr/src/modules/nvidia-kernel/nv/nvidia.o] Error 1 make[3]: *** [_module_/usr/src/modules/nvidia-kernel/nv] Error 2 make[3]: Leaving directory `/usr/src/linux-headers-2.6.18-4-486' NVIDIA: left KBUILD. nvidia.ko failed to build! make[2]: *** [module] Error 1 make[2]: Leaving directory `/usr/src/modules/nvidia-kernel/nv' make[1]: *** [build-stamp] Error 2 make[1]: Leaving directory `/usr/src/modules/nvidia-kernel' make: *** [kdist_image] Error 2 -- System Information: Debian Release: lenny/sid APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable'), (500, 'testing') Architecture: i386 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 2.6.22-3-amd64 (SMP w/2 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=en_US, LC_CTYPE=en_US (charmap=ISO-8859-1) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Versions of packages nvidia-kernel-source depends on: ii debhelper 6.0.3 helper programs for debian/rules ii dpatch 2.0.29 patch maintenance system for Debia ii make 3.81-3 The GNU version of the "make" util ii sed 4.1.5-5 The GNU sed stream editor Versions of packages nvidia-kernel-source recommends: ii devscripts 2.10.13 Scripts to make the life of a Debi ii kernel-package 11.001-0.1 A utility for building Linux kerne pn nvidia-glx <none> (no description available) -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
