Hi,
Bug #450802, #454177, and #460503 are all from the same
underlying cause. To be at all useful, sox needs to depend
on libsox-fmt-base, not just recommend or suggest it.
I agree on that Bug#454177 should be fixed.
However, I think Bug#450802 is a initialization error for libao and ALSA, not a
dependency problem.
Thus it cannot be resolved by install libsox-fmt-all.
By the way, I have a good news about this bug.
In sox-devel mailing-list, some changes are made for libao initialization.

This changes might be related to this bug.
I hope that this bug will be fixed in next upstream release.
