I finally got a chance to look at this one. With SVN rev. 8573, I can't reproduce this behavior at all. However, this bug report is rather vague as to the exact steps necessary to reproduce the problem, and this code hasn't changed much in years, so it seems like there could well be a bug here, and I should make another attempt at reproducing it.
