Package: mpd Version: 0.13.0-7 Severity: normal I installed mpd on a system that lacks a sound card, because I thought I'd have it installed before going to the back room and installing the (USB) sound card. I was suprised to find that apt-get install mpd hung in this situation.

(PS, notice the bogus "failed!" when it tries to stip a mpd that was
not running because this is the first install.)
At this point, ps showed mpd was running, and apparently was just sitting
there and not backgrounding. So I killed it:

There was nothing in the mpd log files.
I cannot reproduce the hang by starting the init script by hand,
