Correction: it's actually the recommends: line causing the issue.
(and aptitude -R wasn't ignore recommends like it should... sorry).

Right now, the recommends is:
Recommends: postgresql-8.1 | postgresql-8.0 | postgresql (>= 7.4)

I think it should be:
Recommends: postgresql-8.2 | postgresql-8.1 | postgresql-8.0 | postgresql (>= 
7.4)
