I just tested to enable bootlogd in my qemu test install, and it worked as it should. I have no idea what causes this problem. Could it be a timing issue between udev and bootlogd? Can you provide the output of 'ls /dev/rcS.d/', to let us verify the boot sequence? Does it help to move the start of bootlogd later in the boot sequence?
