Hi,

Ipe folks: I'm cc'ing you on this response to a debian user's bug
report in order to float a suggestion for UI improvement.

At the time of the report, Debian included Ipe 6.0 preview 28. Debian
is now shipping preview 30, however, so that's what I've just tested.

The behaviour I observe is that the "Save as..." and "Open file" menu
items always start in the directory to which you last saved. The
current directory is used if you haven't saved yet.

I think this behaviour is defensible. The only improvement that I
might suggest is that the "Open file" item *also* sets the directory
for the next time one of these functions is invoked.

Regards,
-Steve
