Package: splix
Version: 1.0.1-1
Severity: wishlist

hi

The version 1.1.0 of splix has been released. This version adds the
support for newer printers like the CLP-300, CLP-600, and add lots of
new supported printers.

Unfortunately this version needs libjbig, that is not
available in Debian ; googling around, I found someone
claiming that there are patent problems.

The best would be to change the source code so that
libjbig may be dynamically loaded at runtime: so
drivers that do not need it woul work out of the box,
and drivers that need it may be used in countries were
those patents do not apply, by simply compiling libjbig.
(The above is not so different from what we already
do in Debian with libdvdread / libdvdcss ).
