Package: splix Version: 1.0.1-1 Severity: wishlist hi
The version 1.1.0 of splix has been released. This version adds the support for newer printers like the CLP-300, CLP-600, and add lots of new supported printers. Unfortunately this version needs libjbig, that is not available in Debian ; googling around, I found someone claiming that there are patent problems. The best would be to change the source code so that libjbig may be dynamically loaded at runtime: so drivers that do not need it woul work out of the box, and drivers that need it may be used in countries were those patents do not apply, by simply compiling libjbig. (The above is not so different from what we already do in Debian with libdvdread / libdvdcss ). a. -- System Information: Debian Release: lenny/sid APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 2.6.23-1-amd64 (SMP w/2 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=C, LC_CTYPE=C (charmap=ANSI_X3.4-1968) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Versions of packages splix depends on: ii libc6 2.7-5 GNU C Library: Shared libraries ii libcupsimage2 1.3.5-1 Common UNIX Printing System(tm) - ii libcupsys2 1.3.5-1 Common UNIX Printing System(tm) - ii libgcc1 1:4.2.2-4 GCC support library ii libstdc++6 4.2.2-4 The GNU Standard C++ Library v3 splix recommends no packages. -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
