Hi, I've a problem with volume control using keyboard shortcuts. Steps to reproduce: - Open "Keyboard Shortcuts" and assign XF86AudioLowerVolume/XF86AudioRaiseVolume to "Volume down"/"Volume up" After this step if I press one of the keys the volume changes accordingly. - Log out & log back in At this point the volume control keys no longer work. When pressing volume up/down, xev shows just normal keypress events, no grabs: KeyPress event, serial 32, synthetic NO, window 0x3400001, root 0x5e, subw 0x0, time 9106069, (86,119), root:(90,955), state 0x0, keycode 176 (keysym 0x1008ff13, XF86AudioRaiseVolume), same_screen YES, XLookupString gives 0 bytes: XmbLookupString gives 0 bytes: XFilterEvent returns: False KeyRelease event, serial 32, synthetic NO, window 0x3400001, root 0x5e, subw 0x0, time 9106172, (86,119), root:(90,955), state 0x0, keycode 176 (keysym 0x1008ff13, XF86AudioRaiseVolume), same_screen YES, XLookupString gives 0 bytes: XFilterEvent returns: False - Open "Keyboard Shortcuts" again. It shows that XF86AudioLowerVolume/XF86AudioRaiseVolume is still assigned to "Volume down"/"Volume up" - Re-assign the very same keysyms to "Volume down"/"Volume up", and the keys start to work again. xev now correctly shows the grab events on keypress: FocusOut event, serial 29, synthetic NO, window 0x3400001, mode NotifyGrab, detail NotifyAncestor FocusOut event, serial 29, synthetic NO, window 0x3400001, mode NotifyUngrab, detail NotifyPointer FocusIn event, serial 29, synthetic NO, window 0x3400001, mode NotifyUngrab, detail NotifyAncestor KeymapNotify event, serial 29, synthetic NO, window 0x0, keys: 4294967212 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 First I thought that some component of GNOME is not started on login, but I see no change in the process list after I (re-)activate the shortcuts in the "Keyboard Shortcuts" dialog.
