Hello, I'm running Debian unstable on a Dell PC with 845G onboard graphics. When using Gnome, recently X started locking up after switching virtual desktop a few times. Before it locked up I noticed it was slower than usual. After it hangs, the mouse pointer still moves and the Xorg process started eating up all available CPU. I can still log in from remote and kill -9 it.
I then ran KDE instead, which solved the lockups, but the desktop remained painfully slow. After I finally found this bug report, I added this line to my "Device" section in /etc/X11/xorg.conf: Option "AccelMethod" "XAA" and Bingo! Gnome no longer hangs after changing desktops and the desktop is as fast as it used to be. I'm running the latest xserver-xorg-video-intel version 2:2.2.0-1. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble? Contact [EMAIL PROTECTED]
