Package: ed Version: 0.7-1 Severity: normal Sometimes, when editing a file, ed will return a non 0 exit code usually (always?) 2. The file will have been successfully written, however this confuses programs which call ed. I use ed as my preferred editor with the EDITOR and VISUAL environment variables. Quite often I notice this behavior when ed is called by mutt, or reportbug. Mutt for example will often report "error spawning /bin/ed" after ed exits. yet the message will have been written fine. Unfortunately I have not been able to determine any specific set of activities within ed itself which will cause it to exit with something other than 0, yet still complete everything it was supposed to do successfully. I have however reproduced the problem on both a Debian and a ubuntu system.
