According to <http://lwn.net/Articles/245097/>, it seems that if the 'noatime' mount option is used then there is no need to set 'nodiratime'. It would be nice if the mount man page reflected this. Perhaps some wording like: nodiratime Do not update directory inode access times on this filesystem.
