Furthermore, I'm not sure if hal should be overriding the choice of the filesystem, if it is set to panic. I can see the argument for not bringing down a machine if a removable device is inserted, since that's a DoS. However, if it's a fixed disk, then it's probably a good idea to allow the superblock to take precedence. So please only use errors=remount-ro on removable disks, and let non-removable (fixed) disks choose their own default.
