An RFA was posted for xsysinfo on 22 Dec 2003. Jeroen van Wolffelaar retitled it to ITA on 9 Nov 2004 while cleaning up a bunch of wnpp stuff, but it's unclear if he intended to adopt it or really meant RFA. Jeroen?
There are countless packages in debian that serve the same purpose as this package. Is there something unique about this one? Here's some data: Resource usage: USER PID %CPU %MEM VSZ RSS TTY STAT START TIME COMMAND taggart 21124 0.1 0.1 3524 1728 pts/14 S 16:45 0:00 xsysinfo Library usage: $ ldd `which xsysinfo` libXaw.so.7 => /usr/X11R6/lib/libXaw.so.7 (0xb7f7a000) libXmu.so.6 => /usr/X11R6/lib/libXmu.so.6 (0xb7f63000) libXt.so.6 => /usr/X11R6/lib/libXt.so.6 (0xb7f12000) libSM.so.6 => /usr/X11R6/lib/libSM.so.6 (0xb7f09000) libICE.so.6 => /usr/X11R6/lib/libICE.so.6 (0xb7ef2000) libXpm.so.4 => /usr/X11R6/lib/libXpm.so.4 (0xb7ee3000) libXext.so.6 => /usr/X11R6/lib/libXext.so.6 (0xb7ed5000) libX11.so.6 => /usr/X11R6/lib/libX11.so.6 (0xb7e0d000) libc.so.6 => /lib/tls/libc.so.6 (0xb7cd8000) libdl.so.2 => /lib/tls/libdl.so.2 (0xb7cd5000) /lib/ld-linux.so.2 => /lib/ld-linux.so.2 (0xb7fea000) #rank name inst vote old recent no-files (maintainer) 198 xsysinfo 193 38 145 10 0 (Hugo Haas) (from http://popcon.debian.org/main/utils/by_inst ) A two bugs, one with an easy fix the other with a patch. http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/pkgreport.cgi?which=pkg&data=xsysinfo&archive=no So a few people are using it, it doesn't consume too much cpu/memory (less than an xterm), and it only uses X libs (and not gtk/qt etc.), and won't take too much effort to maintain. Comparing with packages of similar functionality might be interesting. (FYI, I don't use this package, the bug just caught my eye in wnpp because it's old.)
