Hi Mark,

This is another fairly old bug against the Debian OpenAFS packages:

| Package: openafs-client
| Version: 1.0.4-1
|
| It *appears* that if the openafs client on the fileserver machine
| while the fileserver is still salvaging, that it decides it is
| inaccessible, and fails to mount /afs.
|
| This triggers a separate bug where partially-started afs panic's
| (oopses) on shutdown, often hanging the machine; this causes the
| salvager to need to run next time, causing a loop which is only broken
| by disabling client start and manually restarting it.

I'm fairly sure that this bug is fixed (even in the version in Debian
stable) at this point. The AFS client still isn't particularly happy if
it can't talk to the file server at boot, but I believe it now starts up
and recovers once the file server is accessible.

Are you still seeing this problem on your systems? If not, I will close
this bug.
