Package: xsane
Version: 0.97-3
Severity: normal

When using the network backend, trying to change options like the
binary/gray/colour selection or flatbed/transparency unit will produce a
dialog box with 'Failed to set value of option mode: invalid argument'.
This does not happen using xsane with the real backend directly. I have
seen this with the epkowa backend (in libsane-extras 1.0.15.9) driving
an epson 4990, and a friend sees exactly the same behaviour with the
epson backend driving a 4870.

The _really_ strange thing is that there's a very simple workaround;
playing with some other controls _before_ touching the colour or source
control, eg the 'colour range' dropdown, or just bringing up the
preferences window and cancelling it again, makes everything work
properly!
