I first also denied that this is a security issue but after having an IRC conversation with Benjamin I have to agree that it is. There seems to be at least a valid use case for people using it to safe sensitive data on the screen from others. The fact that only this specific screensaver does it and others not make me also believe this. However I agree that this is not serious as we would set serious or grave to possible bypasses of the screensaver for example.
