I will apply the last two points to the upstream securetty.

For the first point, I don't think it can be applied upstream (shadow
could be run on a old kernel).

What I don't know is whether it would be really unrealistic to run a
Debian system with a system supporting devfs.

The only kernel requirement I know is from the glibc, but I think the libc
still allows a 2.6.12 Linux kernel, which supports devfs.
(Is this right?)

If this is the case, I would prefer to just keep the deprecated tty, but
adding a note.

Are there other reason which would make devfs support impossible when the
login package is installed?
