The status is this: I've mostly completed the Locale::Maketext transition in my master branch. So you should be able to see and test your translations at http://packages.debian.net/ (comments and bug reports welcome). I've not yet merged that to the debian-master branch. I might do it this weekend, but seeing that I go on vacation soon afterwards this might not such a good idea. If I decide to merge it after my vacation, this means it can't be activated until mid-January.
