Hello, I have tested other terms and have found that this problem might by gnome-terminal related, since in xterm this problem disappeared.
By the way, in gnome-terminal the `character encoding' has been set to UTF-8 and the dirs and files whose names are encoded in UTF-8 are displayed correctly. -- Hongzheng Wang Department of Electronic Engineering Tsinghua University Beijing 100084, China Tel: (+86 10) 6279 6973 -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
