I can also reproduce it, in my (rather minimal) sid chroot. I suspect it
happens when running a i386 installation on a amd64 kernel.
lib9/Makefile checking the output of uname seems fishy.

It is also reproducible in pergolesi's sid chroot. (The chroot does
not have dpatch installed, unpacking the source and running
make  LDFLAGS="" PREFIX=/usr/lib/9base MANPREFIX=/usr/share/man
shows the error.)
