I'm wrong? or do you intend the monitor console of qemulator? In such case I've tried and it works for me, I can plug and unplug usb devices to the emulated system... But running an emulated OS from qemulator you can't swith to qemu monitor hitting CTRL+ALT+2, you get directly the serial0 console...
