Removed? The 2.6.22 kernel still has the old stack, and in addition you
can select the Juju stack, which is marked experimental. I don't think
this warrants the bug severity "important".

Why don't you talk to the upstream maintainers of libraw1394 and send
them the patches they need to apply? I can act as a middle man but it
seems a bit silly in this case.
