I guess latest xserver-xorg-core and xserver-xorg-video-intel won't change anything here. It looks like a mesa problem to me, something like a GPU lockup. SecondLife uses OpenGL/DRI, right? Being easy to reproduce is a very good point here. Would you mind reporting this bug upstream at bugzilla.freedesktop.org product mesa component drivers/dri/i915 ? If you can't, I'll do it.
