It is reproducible here on powerpc with:
  ii  alien-arena               6.10-2
  ii  alien-arena-data          6.10-1
  ii  alien-arena-dbg           6.10-2

Even with -dbg installed, the backtrace isn't very meaningful. In short
words (I can't even get the output here, my pointer device is no longer
working after the crash), the backtrace is:
  strcpy
  ACESP_LoadBots
  ClientBeginDeathmatch

Looks like portability issues to me rather than OpenGL limitations,
really.
