KFlickr makes use the KIO::PreviewJob in order to retrieve the

installed and try to reproduce the error. The fact that you are
getting the broken file icons indicates to me that the job is
returning with an error. Because of this I am fairly confident that
KFlickr is working correctly and the error is related to the failure
of the KIO::PreviewJob. Again I will try to reproduce this myself
before making any more assumptions.

I run an strace of kflickr adding a file.

I run the program like this:
$ strace -o kflickr.log.4 kflickr
hope it can be usefull.
ps: when you want to see the picture clicking on the magnifier shows up
a new windows with the image.
