Hi Eduard, A friend of mine recently ran in to an issue where apt could not satisfy depends in m-a but aptitude could. It's a minor annoyance, but I think aptitude often makes a better choice.
I notice your objection is that aptitude is too noisy. Did you check out the -q option? Something like -q=100 should make it work like apt.
