Package: aptitude Version: 0.4.6.1-1.1 Severity: normal
When installing any package, these lines are always displayed in the Terminal window: debconf: unable to initialize frontend: Dialog debconf: (TERM is not set, so the dialog frontend is not usable.) debconf: falling back to frontend: Readline I can not find any documentation on how to set the TERM environment variable within Aptitude so debconf can not use the Dialog interface as configured. Debconf does ask questions inline within the terminal window so this bug does not prevent installations from completing. Also, this message does not appear when running apt-get or dpkg-reconfigure from within a normal terminal window. -- System Information: Debian Release: lenny/sid APT prefers testing APT policy: (990, 'testing'), (500, 'oldstable'), (500, 'unstable'), (500, 'stable'), (1, 'experimental') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.18-4-k7 (SMP w/1 CPU core) Locale: LANG=C, LC_CTYPE=C (charmap=ANSI_X3.4-1968) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Versions of packages aptitude depends on: ii apt [libapt-pkg-libc6.6-6 0.7.6 Advanced front-end for dpkg ii libc6 2.6.1-1+b1 GNU C Library: Shared libraries ii libgcc1 1:4.2.2-3 GCC support library ii libncursesw5 5.6+20071013-1 Shared libraries for terminal hand ii libsigc++-2.0-0c2a 2.0.17-2 type-safe Signal Framework for C++ ii libstdc++6 4.2.2-3 The GNU Standard C++ Library v3 Versions of packages aptitude recommends: ii aptitude-doc-en [aptitude-do 0.4.6.1-1.1 English manual for aptitude, a ter pn libparse-debianchangelog-per <none> (no description available) -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
