Firefox uses png | for its icon, if that counts for anything.
Fair arguments. [ Firefox is also huge and doesn't mind imporant gazillion libraries. ] Marco, could you try and see if the desktop file can cope with png? Maybe we should contact the Ubuntu patcher... In any event, we can also leave the png as the upstream default for the reasons Michael gave, and flip to xpm for the Debian install. That would be cheap enough. Whatever works for all of us.
