I would like to fix this properly. I don't use that part of these
packages, and I'm not a python expert at all, and although I have
written a small handful of non-trivial python programs, it has been
several years. I'll prepare a new upload to fix the two problems you
have reported, but I would also welcome other patches to make this
better. I would like to make the debian packages easy to import to
Ubuntu, and it would also be nice to make this package more ready for
any future Python transitions in debian.
