Package: libpam-smbpass Version: 3.0.26a-1 Severity: important The libpam-smbpass module, when called by an app run as a non-root user, kills the calling application with SIGABRT due to inability to read the secrets.tdb. This is inappropriate for a PAM module, a PAM module should never generate signals; a solution for handling get_global_sam_sid() in the common code needs to be found that DTRT for each of the server and the PAM module.
I think this same behavior has been previously reported in smbclient, but I haven't yet found the related bug report - there's probably an easy and consistent fix that can be applied here if we locate that other report. -- Steve Langasek Give me a lever long enough and a Free OS Debian Developer to set it on, and I can move the world.
