Package: smbfs Version: 3.0.24-6etch4 Severity: normal When you use a long hostname in the 'ip' parameter like 'AAAAAAAAAAAA.BBBBBBBBBB.example.com' mount.cifs aborts saying 'ip address too long'. As far as Google knows, the maximum length of a domain name can be 255 octets, so it seems that 36 is too far from that limit (RFC 1034).
