Summary of what was said in IRC: The problem is caused by Gnome. The crash did not occur during "startx /usr/bin/xterm". But running gnome-session in there caused the crash. strace made the problem go away unfortunately, so we don't know exactly what was being done at the time of the crash. Removing all keyboard-related config from gconf made the problem go away. This machine had been upgraded from potato up to sid, so there could have been some old keyboard config remaining in gconf. Unfortunately, we don't know how to reproduce now :( I am keeping this bug open for now in case Mark finds a way to reproduce. The original problem might be fixed in the upcoming Xserver 1.4.1 which contains a lot of input related fixes. Brice -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
