As far as I can see, that's a completely different problem (that's why
I clone the bug report), but I hit it myself yesterday.

That's true.  But it doesn't cause trouble on all drawings, but only
on some (didn't check out what exactly triggers the problem).

This work around helped me on my problem image, too.

I think its a bug of both.
- fig2dev should not tag not fully DSC 2.0 compliant code as
  %!PS-Adobe-2.0"
- cups should be less restrictive on what it accepts, because it can
  handle the PS code, if you change the tag from "%!PS-Adobe-2.0" to
  "%!PS".
