Package: openafs-client Version: 1.3.81-3sarge2 Severity: important
"vos dump" segfaults on dumping a backup volume if the output file name is longer than 104 characters. The command was run locally on an OpenAFS server using Debian 3.1 sarge. I know sarge is no longer a current release, but upgrading to or setting up a test server using etch, lenny or sid isn't that easy. If in etch, lenny or sid the segfault is gone, this report will probably remain as merely an informational report. 104 characters-long file name works: filesrv:~# vos dump -id svn.backup -localauth -time 0 -file abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz0123456789abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz0123456789abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz01234 Dumped volume svn.backup in file abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz0123456789abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz0123456789abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz01234 filesrv:~# 105 characters-long file name segfaults: filesrv:~# vos dump -id svn.backup -localauth -time 0 -file abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz0123456789abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz0123456789abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz012345 Dumped volume svn.backup in file abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz0123456789abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz0123456789abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz012345 Segmentation fault filesrv:~# Even though "vos dump" segfaults, the file is written and is even bit-for-bit identical to the 104 characters test. So it seems workable, but not really reliable.
