Could you
please do the following:
Boot your machine without starting kde. Switch to a console like
<CTRL> <ALT> <F2> login as user and do
$ alsamixer
Is the sound muted then?
I remember a similar bug. alsamixer worked fine and kmix has had its
own config, though......
Elimar
I quit kmix then did:
victoria:/home/amarsh04/.kde/share/config# ls|grep kmix|xargs rm
I then rebooted and from a console prompt without starting kde ran
alsamixer and found that the sound was *not* muted.
When I started kde, having deleted all kmix settings, sound continued as
normal and I heard the kde start-up sounds (-:.
Where would the bug actually lie, and what would be the best way to
avoid it in the future?
Arthur.
