hello there :) this is since about two upgrades to gnome-panel in sid/unstable; it took me some time to find out how to get it generally: opening more than nine windows on a single workspace HERE makes the panel hang in a busy loop (verified by attaching gdb and breaking several times, just to see the same calls again and again.)
