Hi Karl, I too would very much like to see c-ares available on Debian, I am part of the group trying to get the Secondlife client into Debian and c-ares is now a dependency that we need.
If you don't want to replace ares with c-ares is it perhaps possible to get a c-ares package into Debian as well. The only actual conflict is the ares.h header file in /usr/include, what do you think? If you think this is the route to go I will file a ITP against WNPP and i can even package up c-ares and upload it to mentors. Of cause if you would like to package it yourself then please do so :-) If you would like me to continue would you then consider sponsoring the package as it is very related to the existing libares0. Many thanks for your help Robin Cornelius
