I've downgraded the package to 1.0~rc1-12etch1 and it works, I don't understand all the problems it meets, but the main point is that it works and that's good enough: MPlayer 1.0rc1-4.1.2-DFSG-free (C) 2000-2006 MPlayer Team AltiVec not found CPU: PowerPC mplayer: could not connect to socket mplayer: No such file or directory Failed to open LIRC support.
