Hi,
I'm sorry, but in the previous mail I have been hasty, I've trusted the
correctness of the proposed solution to this problem, I have applied
the patch and I've submitted the package to my sponsor.
Correctly, the sponsor has pointed out me that the patch does not
resolve the problem in the correct way.
Your automated buildd log filter as correctly detected a problem, but
only
at a superficialally stage, analyzing deeper def_operation.c we can
discover that the one reported by your automated script it's
not alone and so the proposed patch is trivial for the resolution
and indeed it mask the real problem.
operation_get_child_transfert() is not the one without a previous
prototype definition, so fixing only this one we only mask a bigger
problem. So I've decided to not apply the patch, but to work with
upstream author to fix the whole problem.
Regarding the severity, I think that important it's not correct for this
bug, the bug is real but the effects are unproven (consider that the
package as been tested under an amd64 before the upload), and
in any case it has not caused any serius side-effect.
I have decided to downgrade the severity to normal.
Cheers,
francesco

Our automated buildd log filter[1] detected a problem that is
likely to
cause your package to segfault on architectures where the size of a
pointer is greater than the size of an integer, such as ia64 and
amd64.
This is often due to a missing function prototype definition.
For more information, see [2].
