Hi, As I just got bitten by this very bug, when I added a second VG to the system, lvm assigned a new numbering, and lilo refused to boot, I wonder if it's planned to fix this bug?
It seems like it would be sufficient to skip the name -> device-number mapping for LVM devices, this should not be difficult to implement. (But I didn't look at the source to verify this claim).
