gs-esp ignores DEB_BUILD_OPTS=noopt,nostrip. This causes problems when trying to debug #428876, because building the package (on sparc) still results in an optimized, stripped binary. Although I can copy the unstripped binary from bin/gs-esp to /usr/bin/gs-esp by hand, the binary is still optimized, which causes important information for debugging to be left out.
